Without the ‘deep pockets’ needed for a really good champagne, Sue Style looks out for well-made sparkling wines from other regions of France and includes the Rives-Blanques Vintage Rose in her final selection of favourite regional Crémants, that sweeps through Alsace, the Jura, Burgundy, the Loire, Savoie, and ends in the most southern appellation of all, Limoux. These ‘well-made’ sparkling wines are ‘often a far better bet to get the best bang for your money’ than a discounted Champagne, she says in the latest edition of Decanter magazine.
