France’s leading and the world’s oldest wine magazine, the La Revue du Vin de France published the findings of its blind tasting of 2010 wines around the country.
For the tenth consecutive year, a wine from Rives-Blanques was included amongst the best wines in the country: this time, the chenin blanc Dédicace, which was classified amongst the six top ‘Réussites Exceptionnelles” white wines of the Languedoc Roussillon region.
The 2010 vintage was a complicated and capricious one, they said, with a cold, rainy winter followed by a very dry April – September period, factors contributing to a much reduced yield.
It was a year which brought great precision to the flavours and aromatic character of the best white wines, they found. They included Limoux generally amongst the ‘best successes’ of the region.
It is significant that of the six most ‘exceptional’ white wines of the region, two were from Limoux, an appellation of only 500,000 bottles a year.
Dédicace was described as Pleasingly lemony, fresh and slender. An exceptional success.
