Part 1 of the epic 4-part series of Jancis Robinson Languedoc-Roussillon tasting notes, produced by Tamlyn Currin, was published today, covering the region’s fizz and white wines. Château Rives-Blanques earned some wonderful tasting notes for its current releases. written in the distinctive and poetic style characteristic of the author. The series ended with reviews of the region’s sweet wines, in which 17.5 points were awarded to our two vintages of Lagremas d’Aur (see here).
In her introduction, she commented that the region is ‘light years ahead of other regions in the world’ for its organic practices and sustainability measures”. It is also, she said, ‘a place of innovation and collaboration’, citing s examples the two informal groups of which Rives-Blanques is a member: the Vinifilles and the Outsiders
She was also struck by how many winegrowers are moving away from international grape varieties. Limoux’s Mauzac got a rousing cheer. “Mauzac needs you!” she encouraged, “be a Mauzac superhero with Blanquette de Limoux!”.
