Honey, almond, citrus, yellow fruit and dried fruit, a beautiful complexity in this late harvested wine done in two passages, ending on November 5th. Ample and dense, but without heaviness, the wine coats the palate pleasantly, and diffuses sweet notes of quince, date and nut. Voluptuous, nicely evolved, enjoy it in small sips with a blue cheese.
JANCIS ROBINSON LANGUEDOC REVIEW July 2020 17.5 points
So creamy, on the nose and in the mouth, but reverberating with an electric current of apricots. Quince fragrance and intensity, becoming more and more membrillo-like the longer it lingers in the mouth. Magnificent depth and exquisite precision of fruit to marry the sweetness and brace the acidity. Further lifted and lengthened by gauzy clouds of lavender, jasmine in the mid palate and the faintest sketch of blanched almonds towards the finish. A wine that tastes like a pool of honeyed candlelight on a table outside on a mid-summer night. You can smell the night jasmine … (TC) Drink 2020 – 2029

Deep lemon yellow; Richly sweet smelling with raisins and dried figs, and touch of varnish too. Palate loaded with dried figs, attractive, oily, gently sweet, persistent too. Good.
GUIDE DUSSERT GERBER DE VINS 2021 (tasted September 2020)
Defined by its soft persistence and by the grape variety itself (Chenin blanc) which gives it this most agreeable roundness on the palate.
GUIDE DES VINS DUSSERT-GERBER 2022 re-tasted in September 2021
Au nez puisante fruité (pamplemousse, amande, pomme), ample, tres bien vinifié, de bouche persistante.
A powerful fruity nose of grapefruit, almond and apple; full; very well made; persistent in the mouth.

A late harvest Chenin blanc, with the grapes picked in November. Only made in years when the weather allows for the development of noble rot, as it did in October 2016. And again in October 2019. Fermented and aged on the lees in a stainless steel tank. Light golden in colour, with some roasted notes on the nose, typical of noble rot. Dry honey balanced by firm acidity. Elegantly honey with a fresh finish. Quite delicious. As good as the best Bonnezeaux or Coteaux du Layon. And very similar in style. Try detecting the difference in a blind tasting.

Lovely robe, balanced, delicately fruity, with aromas of nuts and quince.

« Généralement, les vins de la propriété sont raffinés et dotés d’une grande fraicheur, mais on peut noter que ce sont les vins tranquilles qui, grâce à leur élégance, ont assis la notoriété de la propriété »
“These wines are refined and endowed with great freshness. But it is the elegant non-sparkling wines that have made this vineyard well known”

JANCIS ROBINSON MW August 2017 – 15.5 pts
Decidedly simpler than the 2012 and I was unable to discern any botrytis, although there was some apparently, thanks to October rains. It tastes more as if the grapes had been dried on the vine with notes of quince. I’m sure it took a lot of effort but, apart from convincing persistence, it doesn’t have much grace or fruit. Perhaps I am being harsh and it will eventually reveal more interest.

Beginning to turn a golden amber in colour. Notes of fudge and manuka on the nose, and then something dense and wholesome, like warm, malted rye bread spread with melting butter and wild honey. Much more acidity than the 2019. Citrus scalpels cutting fine orange-scented, pith-bitter lines through lemon-sponge and stroopwafel sweetness. An aureate blade of flavour that turns back, on the end, to the comforting rye-toast-and-honey of the nose. And then bay leaf. Dipped in orange honey. Just when you thought it was all over … (TC). Glazed apple, honeycuckle and brown sugar flavors mark this sweetie. Integrated, solid acity keeps this fresh and balanced, with a good dose of floral and spice notes on the finish.

Aromatically compelling: rich, ripe melon mixed with lots of waxy honeycomb. It has the kind of balance and appeal of a vin de paille from the Jura … in other words its 70 g/l of sugars are amply and refreshingly matched by vivid, intense acidity. Grape, apple, pear, quince, orange and orange zest, too; not a lot of glycerol, but vinous. A perfect aperitif style: delicious and dangerously sippable.

This is late harvest Chenin Blanc and Mauzac, harvested in January. There is a little botrytis, but the grapes are mostly raisined. The name means tears of gold, and you could say, that it is what the wine looks like, with quite a deep golden colour, with fresh honey and barley sugar on the nose, and more on the palate, with some fresh fruit and some roasted hints of botrytis. 70 gms/l residual sugar remains. It is absolutely delicious, and perfect with fruit puddings.
LEON STOLARSKI LeonStolarski.blogspot.com
Made from late-harvested Chenin Blanc (60%) harvested in November and Mauzac (40%) harvested in November, fermented and aged in oak barrels for 3 years, followed by a further year in bottle before release. As with most (if not all) non-fortified sweet wines made in southern France, there is no AOC, so this qualifies only as a humble Vin de Table. But don’t let that fool you, because it is delicious. It is at the same time floral, herby, minerally and crammed full with flavours of tropical fruits, soft citrus, apples, ginger and spice. Although – as with most late-harvested wines – there is a fair degree of natural sweetness, it also possesses a backbone of truly mouth-watering acidity, making for a tremendously sprightly wine, full of freshness and verve. In fact, I would hesitate to call it a full-on sweet wine, because it isn’t thick or gloopy or syrupy – or even overtly sweet. Although I am loath to make comparisons, I’d compare it more with a sort of vendange tardive in the Alsace mode, or perhaps even a rich, off-dry botrytis-affected Semillon from the Hunter Valley. There is perhaps a touch of botrytis, as evidenced by a palpable whiff of honey, but any richness is down to paserillé – the drying of the grapes on the vine, prior to harvesting. Whatever the method, it is very more-ish!

(87 pts)
Deep gold robe. Nose of jammy raisins, slightly muscaty. The mouth unites concentration and elegance on the same gastronomic level. Good length finishing in dried apricots and orange rind. An original wine.
1001 DEGUSTATIONS.COM:
JANCIS ROBINSON MW
Smoky, tobacco, not luscious though certainly with a high sugar content but dry on the finish. This is surely for foie gras! Very toasty and clean and refreshing. 14%

This curiosity is a late harvest style, 60% Chenin Blanc harvested in November, and 40% Mauzac harvested in January 2005. There is no tradition or recognition of this style in the region, so it is classed as a vin de table . It has 90 g/l of residual sugar. An intense orange-fruit nose, with candied peach and apricot too. Sweet, full, quite elegant, with good acidity and freshness. Firm with a gentle substance. Really very appealing wine with a sweet, characterful finish. 16+/20 (July 2009)
… retasted in July 2012: The domaine’s sweet wine. A slightly burnished lemon gold hue in the glass, golden but with deep and dusty hints at times. The nose carries some sweetness, with scents reminiscent of lemons and marmalade, the lift of the fresh citrus fruit combining quite nicely with the sweet, lightly perfumed, orange-tinged richness. I find an overt sweetness on the start of the palate, but this is offset by a steely structure and a slightly bitter frame. This persists through the wine, which shows a dusty and very tangible substance in the very middle, a feature which stays alive right through to the finish, where a more savoury, spicy element dominates. The considerable length is where this bitter structure materialises most readily. An attractive wine. 15.5/20
JANCIS ROBINSON PURPLE PAGES (May 2010)
Deep gold. It smells of golden sultanas and honey, orange and lemon peel. Lovely pithy bitterness with toffee and honey flavours. Very very fresh. Smoky dried fig, toasted cumin and caraway. Dusty carpenter notes on the finish with the echo of lemon peel.

Beau vin. »
The brilliant, intense yellow gold colour of this wine, reinforced by shots of amber leads to intense aromas of cooked exotic fruits, orange peel, and caramel on the nose. Strong and persistent on the palate, with a happy balance of freshness and fruitiness. A handsome wine.
